Ludovic Vallée (1864-1939)

Adorable little oil/cardboard by Ludovic Vallée representing young communicants in a Parisian park, signed lower right + dedicated, countersigned and dated 1926 on the back by the painter's hand. However, this work could have been produced well before this date, which could be the date on which he dedicated this painting. Size without frame 25x32cm It is indeed a remarkable small divisionist oil painting by Ludovic Vallée representing one of his favorite themes, a lively park scene, it could be Montsouris Park where he has planted his easel enormously; the theme of the communicants has also already been painted by Vallée, I found a very similar work, in a larger format 78x48cm, the communicants seem the same as on my painting, this work had sold for 10500€ at the hammer in 1999 (see last photo for comparison). We immediately recognize the very divided touch of Vallée, extremely fine, just like its most subtle palette with an impressive number of colors, in short a real little masterpiece. Today Ludovic Vallée is one of the greatest French pointillist or divisionist painters of the early 20th century, alongside Henri Martin, Laugé, Cariot, Detroy, Petitjean, Edouard Fer, Person etc.... and his works are highly sought after. amateurs and highly rated, especially his park scenes, especially as they are rather rare on the market. Vallée exhibited in many Parisian salons, that of the Tuileries, at the Société des Beaux Arts and at the Salon des Indépendants since 1903. This oil is in good condition, I just point out some lacks in the corners, but these do not in any way harm the the work especially as these gaps are totally hidden during the framing, especially since it is framed here in a standard format frame without fiddling; and if you want to adapt another frame to it, you can hide these small gaps even more.
