Ceremonial straight saber for a French infantry officer, made by the "Manufacture française d'armes et cycles de St Etienne", towards the end of the 19th century. Straight stainless steel blade, hand forged, tempered and polished with a fuller on each side, one in front and the other behind the middle edge, offset from the blade. (point of oxidations at the level of the guard. Hand-polished brass guard, nickel-plated, with four branches, with a horn handle. Scabbard in nickel-plated straight steel tube, polished with a ring. (bent scabbard on the tip side of the blade preventing the saber from retracting entirely)
