Pair of "gondola" chairs in carved beech, ivory white lacquer and gold Stamped *JACOB.DRMESLEE Empire period early 19th century. The "gondola" shaped backrests are grooved and sculpted with golden water flowers at the ends. Tapered and ringed front foot ending in delicately carved golden water flowers, saber foot at the back. This pair of chairs is upholstered with an old lamb leather in Havana color (used condition) with a beautiful patina. Assembly in pegged beech. *The two chairs are stamped JACOB.DRMESLEE stamp used between 1803 and 1813 when George Jacob joined forces with his son François Honoré who had immense success as a supplier, in particular to the Imperial furniture store.
