Old & very beautiful Japanese vase. "Akasuke Ginbari" vase dating from the end of the 19th century. Ginbari is a unique Japanese cloisonne technique. Textured silver foil is wrapped around the metal (normally brass) body and silver wire closures before the clear enamel is applied. The term "Akasuke" refers to a special red-colored pigeon's blood. The design of this beautiful Akasuke Ginbari vase is composed of a trendy bird on a beautiful wisteria. Wonderfully textured background This vase although unmarked, is of the quality of the workshops of Kumeno Teitaro in Nagoya from 1863 to 1939 8cm in height. Very good condition
