Trained as an architect, he turned to interior design and illustration. There are two axes in his work: a surrealist, dreamlike and sensual vein / a more decorative vein, intended for commissions. • A Surrealist Vein: at the end of the 1940s, he produced, among other things, illustration projects for Le Dîner de Têtes by Jacques Prévert. (n°1) – and other dreamlike projects. Throughout his career he produced illustrations mixed with eroticism, mythology, demonology and strangeness. • Le Décor Roucoux works in the tradition of the interwar period, continuing the art of interior decorators and interior designers (design of objects, wall decorations, etc.) – It produces vases, decorations, tapestry cartoons, screens…. We also owe him scenes, religious, in the movement of post-war reconstructions n°11, and many nudes n° 12 Roucoux is thus representative of a generation formed in the figurative tradition of the interwar period, but having assimilated, reinterpreted the contributions of surrealism. A notice with illustrations will be given to the purchaser.
