This Stag with raised leg is a counterpart to another model, the Listening Stag. The two models were cast for the first time circa 1838. Subsequently, they were cast by the Martin-Barye association (1845 – 1857), then by Barye's workshop. The model was acquired by Barbedienne in 1876.
