"André Beaudin (1895-1979) - Green Abstraction - Watercolor"
André Beaudin (1895-1979) Green abastraction Watercolor signed lower left and dated 1966. Size: 40 x 49 cm Size with frame: 63 x 73 cm André Beaudin artist often unknown to the general public has a real notoriety possessing works in many many museums. The Pompidou center alone has 32 of them. Picasso understood the importance of Beaudin very early on and he said "The ignorance of Beaudin's work constitutes one of the greatest injustices of our time!" The artist may not be recognized at his fair value, but in recent years museums have organized exhibitions on the artist in order to restore him to his nobility. André Beaudin, painter and sculptor has, throughout his life, freed himself from currents and fashions, developing his own style combining simplicity, fluidity and purity. Straight segments and sharp diagonals appropriate the canvas where the color bursts. The shapes become geometrized and refined, highlighting the drawing, an essential component of his work. The themes are those of nature: trees, flowers, birds, but also some portraits. André Beaudin will have the recognition of his peers and contemporaries very early on (Juan Gris, Max Jacob, André Masson, Paul Eluard, Jean Bazaine, Maurice Estève, Francis Ponge, etc.) and will befriend the great art dealer Daniel-Henry Kanhweiler.
