Pharmacy jar labeled "Cinchona Zeylanicum:" (Ceylon red cinchona) Its bark is reputed to stimulate digestive secretions and appetite. It also has an anti-infective effect, hence its prescription in case of influenza, and astringent. This property makes it a valuable treatment for pressure ulcers and sluggish (stabilized) wounds.
