"Bas-relief In Alabaster From Mechelen - The Dream Of Jacob"
This alabaster plaque from Mechelen, Flanders, illustrates the episode in the life of Jacob in which, asleep, he sees a ladder that leads to God who appears to him in the clouds with angels ascending and descending on this ladder between the Heaven and Earth.Sleeping Jacob lies on the ground to the left with two trees and a city sprawling in the background. This plate is enhanced with gold, especially in the background representing the city, with a transverse slit.
In the cartouche appears the monogram of Tobias TISSENAKEN (1570-1624)
With its frame with a large frieze with pastilla.
