Beautiful work of one of the major figures of the Marseillaise School Raphaël Ponson who represents a view of the beach of Bestouan in Cassis animated by a fisherman on his boat in the background.
The artist has brilliantly depicted the waves crashing on the rocks of the beach, as well as the play of light and the creamy sky of an early morning.

A pupil of Emile Loubon at the School of Fine Arts in Marseille, Raphaël Ponson went to Paris in 1855. He frequented the Louvre and lived thanks to the creation of paintings on fans. After a stay in Italy, he settled permanently in Marseille.
He participated in numerous exhibitions in his region and exhibited at the Salon des artistes français from 1861.
He mainly presented seascapes which were noticed by the critics and received numerous prizes. The artist strives to represent in a faithful and sincere way, with a precise brushstroke, the creeks, the beaches and the shores of the surroundings of Marseille.

His works are kept in many museums in France: Aix, Marseille, Avignon, Cassis, Narbonne, Dijon...

Dimensions: 32 x 56 cm without frame and 48.5 x 72.5 cm with its modern black wooden frame and Golden.
