Beautiful luminous work with play of lights, by one of the masters of Provençal painting, François Nardi who represents a bustling view of fishermen at Anse Magaud in Toulon.
In the foreground we can see fishermen on their boats and in the background the Sainte-Marguerite rocks.
Born of Italian parents, François Nardi is naturalized French. Pupil of the painter Frédéric Montenard then of Bouguereau, Tony Robert-Fleury, François Flameng and Gabriel Ferrier at the Académie Julian in Paris.
In 1907, he left Paris and moved to Toulon.
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, at the Salon des Indépendants from 1892 to 1895 and participated in numerous exhibitions in the provinces: Marseille, Lyon, Nice, Toulouse...
His luminous and meticulous palette earned him several mentions and awards during his participations at the fairs. His work, close to the Impressionists, is hailed by critics and collectors.
His works are kept in several public collections and private collections in France and abroad.
Dimensions: 27 x 46 cm without frame and 44 x 63 cm with its wooden frame.
