Ilot Le Verdelet Cotes d'Armor Title "Jour d'orage" Oil on canvas by Emile Daubé 1885 1961 dimensions 46 cm x 38 cm a restoration and a cleaning and varnish have been carried out the period frame is in used condition . Emile Daubé was born in 1885 in Murat (Cantal) and died in 1961. After his studies in Saint-Flour, he joined the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He did his military service in the Alpine hunters then opted for a teaching career which he began in Limoges. He was recruited in 1911 as a drawing teacher by the Saint-Charles high school in Saint-Brieuc. This establishment has preparatory classes for the entrance examination to the Naval Academy. Daubé exercised this function until 1958 and had as students Eric Tabarly, Admiral d'Argenlieu, Alain Bombard, Marin Marie and many others... Emile Daubé was appointed in 1935 director of the Municipal School of Drawing of Saint- Brieuc. He will hold this position until his death in 1961. He also gives lessons in his studio. This teaching activity has always been essential for him. In 1936 Emile Daubé was appointed curator of the Museum of Saint-Brieuc which was at that time installed in the premises of the town hall. It proceeds to the inventory of the collections, to the classification of the works preserved in the reserves while regularly organizing exhibitions. During the Occupation, he participated in the sheltering of the most prestigious works. René-Yves Creston succeeded him as director of the museum in 1961.
