"Fruit Wood Zograscope, Late 18th Century Salon Model"
A beautiful object, fruit wood structure, wide turned foot with baluster leg adjustable in height by wooden screw, The optical system: a 16cm biconvex magnifying glass, is held by 3 turned and removable wooden pilasters. The magnifying glass is tightened by a cord clip armed of iron in its housing with a pretty turn. Second part of the optics, tiltable at 45° by an iron rod, and held by two brass hinges, is a silvered mirror, framed of molded fruitwood, back in resinous.Good general condition, color difference, the wood of mirror having received a redder tint, as for the original silvering, after 200 years, it has a lot of aging spots....
