"Small Napoleon III Library - 2nd Half Nineteenth"
Elegant small blackened wood bookcase richly decorated with gilded bronzes and opening on the front by two glass doors. Each door has in the lower part a panel with an important central motif in chiseled brass representing a cup with handles decorated with flowers and surrounded by foliage, arabesques and Greek angles. In the upper part, a window occupies two thirds of the door. Patterned rods and inlaid brass fillets frame each window and each panel. A high and low lock in original brass and a bronze entrance with key in working order allows the closing of these two doors which have a finely carved bronze joint cover decorated with leaves. Inside, four shelves on adjustable racks benefit from a rosewood edge with lemon tree fillet. The upper part of this small bookcase is illustrated with a long decoration in chiseled brass representing a vase garnished with flowers, surrounded by foliage and flowers. This work is framed by half-round bronze rods and rosettes. On each side, the uprights are furnished with three embedded brass nets and gilded bronze drops in the upper and lower part. The lower part is embellished with a plinth with brass threads and a sculpted bronze applique. The whole of this Napoleon III piece of furniture rests on spinning feet. Graceful and refined, this small 19th century library will delight you with the finesse of its ornamentation.********
