Kayseri wool rug, originally from Turkey in the region of the city of Kayseri and measuring 122 cm wide by 176 cm long, with large flower medallion decoration around 1970 and in perfect condition.
The Kayseri velvet is always short and the inspiration for these rugs comes from ancient Persian rugs, in particular the Tabriz.
Surprisingly in Tabriz we knot silk rugs having the influence of Kayseri rugs.
These exchanges of designs are due to the contacts and commercial and cultural exchanges that these two cities have had between them for many, many years, or even centuries.
These exceptional carpets with delicate patterns are inspired by nature and decorated with intertwining plants, in pastel dyes sometimes enhanced by midnight blue or cardinal red.
We find the Kayseri in all sizes knotted in wool or silk.
This rug has been professionally cleaned and environmentally friendly.
