"Large Copper Watering Can. Hammered Decor. H: 40cm. 18th Century."
Baluster body formed from two interlocking halves, forged and assembled by crenellated brass brazing. It rests on a narrow, tenacious plinth, with a rolled base. Complete with its handle, barrel and apple, all original. The decoration of parallel lines of pastillage and a row of chevrons, indicates a probable Auvergne origin. The watering cans from this period have only exceptionally reached us in perfect condition. Most of them, over-employed, grossly clogged and badly patched, delight wreck enthusiasts…. Height: 40 cm. Diameter: 25 cm. Weight: 3,200 kg. Capacity: 11 liters. 18th century. Very good condition.
