Pair of Japanese ivory and Shakudo * buttons in round shape, decorated with two figures, a man and a woman, in traditional clothes, possibly from the Noh theater, from Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912). These buttons are in good condition. A note: tiny dirt and slight wear of time, see photos. * Shakudo: is a metal (copper) copper alloy typically containing 3 to 7% gold, mainly used for its black-purple lacquer-like patina. Sometimes small amounts of other metals are added. In traditional Japanese art, it is often hammered and inlaid with gold or copper to obtain very contrasting patterns.
