"Covered Pewter Bowl. Paris 1735. XVIIIth C."
Bowl with two ears engraved with trembling flaming hearts and foliage. Nipple cover, with daisy socket, engraved with a seated figure, a web-footed figure, a house, a rabbit, a dog. Hallmark of Jean TARDIF, master in PARIS in 1716 with its variant. Control of the town in 1735. There are few common pewter objects from the 18C. bearing a tremblé engraving (executed with a chisel and a chisel). We see this type of decoration mainly in PARIS, on ewers, water pots, sugar bowls, timpani, covered bowls. In ROUEN on covered bowls, in ALSACE and SWITZERLAND on cans, bottles, mugs.
