Still life of flowers with a cute rabbit Giacomo Nani (Porto Ercole 1698-Naples1755) Oil on oval canvas Lacquered and gilded frame Period around 1740 Canvas format 66 x 94 frame 74 x 103 The work is in excellent condition. Still life representing a vase of flowers rich in particularly colorful and bright botanical species. A cute bunny with black and white fur animates the scene. The work, of beautiful dimensions, is part of a splendid couple painted by Giacomo Nani, a Neapolitan painter specialized in the production of still lifes of flowers often accompanied by domestic animals, typical foods of the time and of kitchen items. He was the pupil of Gaspare Lopez from whom he drew the luminous chromaticism and the technique of composition.
