"Minister's Office Late 19th Early 20th"
Louis XV style minister's desk in the middle of double-sided veneer wood have 3 drawers on each side decorated with ceremonial bronze and brown leather top with a signature below the Alix cabinet in Paris. Georges François Alix was established at 46 rue de Charonne then at 6 bis rue Richard Lenoir from 1878. This cabinetmaker said he specialized in "old-style furniture" and participated in the universal exhibitions of 1884, 1885 and 1889 where he obtained a bronze medal. He designed and manufactured his own furniture as well as his bronzes and sometimes supplied his colleague François Linke. We also find in the archives of Linke many orders for bronzes as well as models of inlays passed to Alix. Enjoying a very good clientele, his activity ceased in 1906 and he bequeathed his bronze models to the Boulle school.
