Object description :

"Hyppolite Pradelles: "the Island Of Pheasants""
Hippolyte Pradelles (1824-1913): “The Island of the pheasants”, watercolor 21 X 32 cm, mounted by a Marie-Louise in an old gold frame with stripes of pearls and strands 40 X 52 cm (missing). Even if it is called nowadays “L'Île aux fa isans”, the title is given by the annotations on the back that modern editing has preserved. Here, young Basques fish and walk on the shore of the Bidassoa in front of the Island, the Rhune in the background. This Strasbourg native after having formed the ephemeral “Groupe de Port-Bertaux” in the company of Corot, Auguin and Courbet, settled in Bordeaux from where he traveled throughout Aquitaine and here in the Basque Country. Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or phone.
