Louis Abel-Truchet, born December 29, 1857 in Versailles and died September 9, 1918 in Auxerre, is a French painter and poster artist.A pupil of Benjamin Constant and Jules Lefebvre at the Académie Julian in Paris, Louis Abel-Truchet has produced numerous paintings of Parisian nightlife at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as well as landscapes and genre scenes. His paintings are treated in a post-impressionist style.In 1907, he founded the Société des humoristes with Louis Vallet.He painted and engraved planks on Montmartre, participated in the "Vachalcades" of the cabaret of the Chat Noir and was the author of several tanks.Abel-Truchet was appointed Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1911.During the First World War he was volunteered as a territorial lieutenant in the 1st Engineer Regiment in 1914. The Army used his skills as a painter by appointing him as Deputy of Guirand de Scevola, camouflage. Abel-Truchet led the workshop in Paris.
