Pierre Louis Cazaubon : "the Basque Shepper" flag

Object description :

"Pierre Louis Cazaubon : "the Basque Shepper""
If Pierre-Louis Cazaubon (1872-1950), from his birth in Bordeaux where he studied under the rule of Louis Cabié, the choice of his port subjects and his many participations at Salons des Amis des Arts of the same city is decidedly Gironde , he made some incursions in Charentes and the Basque Country as masterfully demonstrates this extraordinary watercolor. He was also Associate of the Salon des Artistes Français and his art gradually evolved from academism to impressionism.
This young shepherdess relies on a calvary to watch her goats grazing on the cliff, perhaps to Guéthary or Hendaye, just before dusk, a crescent moon already shining in the sky. In an exceptional format 44 X 92 cm, this watercolor is mounted by a marie-louise umber in a beautiful neo-Basque 70 X 118 cm.
Circa 1900.
