Architect's Desk By Féret, Walnut Mechanical Table, Circa 1889 flag

Object description :

"Architect's Desk By Féret, Walnut Mechanical Table, Circa 1889"
Rare table or architect's desk in walnut. The upper part is adjustable in height, with folding flap, opening panel and sliding shelf. The lower part opens to a drawer.

A plaque on the side of the furniture indicates that it is an "hygienic table" made by House Féret which was located at 16 rue Etienne Marcel in Paris. The model of this table is patented and received a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889 in Paris (year of the Eiffel Tower).

This desk is in good condition, with its aged patina. Some light lacks are to report (including the two hinges of the upper shelf). The mechanism for adjusting the height is currently blocked and will need to be restored.
