Oil on canvas, a tribute to the Polish painter Jan Suchodolski (1797-1875).
The Polish Prince is depicted mounted on his horse in full ceremonial dress, proudly holding his marshal's baton (1813) in his right hand. Canvas from the Alphonse Giroux workshop in Paris. Period or Empire-style gilt frame. Very good presentation with some wear to the frame. Marshal Poniatowski is identified and inscribed on the back of the stretcher, along with the artist's initials. Worth discovering.
