The painting depicts the biblical story of Lot and his daughters (Genesis 19:30-38). In the center sits Lot, an elderly man with a beard, dressed in a blue and red tunic. His two daughters are on either side.
In the background on the right: A city in flames can be clearly seen collapsing under a dark, fiery sky. This is Sodom (or Gomorrah), destroyed by divine fire.
The frame is modern.
