"Gold/platinum Brooch – Unheated & Star-cut Ceylon Sapphire – Diamonds "
An exceptional 18K gold and platinum brooch, representative of the refined jewelry of the late 19th century/Belle Époque, where naturalistic motifs and celestial symbolism blend with great delicacy. At its center is a remarkable unheated cabochon sapphire from Ceylon, approximately 30 carats, displaying a beautiful starburst effect (asterism) visible within the stone. Its luminous color and generous size make it a stone of rare presence. This sapphire is accompanied by its Bellorophon certificate, confirming its origin and the absence of heat treatment. Around the central stone is an airy composition of stars, flowers, and foliage, all set with rose-cut and old-cut diamonds, for a total weight of approximately 2 carats. The brooch's mobility is enhanced by a teardrop-shaped rose-cut diamond pendant, adding a further play of light. The platinum setting, characteristic of Belle Époque workshops, allows for delicate and airy settings, while the gold adds a subtle warmth around the sapphire. Condition: Very good overall condition. Minor scratches from use on the metal parts. Natural inclusions in the sapphire, typical of an unheated stone. Brilliant-cut diamonds, exhibiting the characteristics of old-style cuts.
