"Antique Mosaic Pin, 18th Century"
A 18th-century rose gold (750/°°°) jabot pin, its head adorned with an incredible micromosaic depicting an Athenian woman engulfed in flames. Length: 11 cm. Gross weight: 7.22 g. During the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, it was customary in intellectual circles to undertake one's grand tour. The art of mosaic and micromosaic has been known since antiquity. Thus, a wave of this "antique" style reached France from the 18th century onward. This pin is a perfect testament to the souvenirs brought back from one's grand tour.
