“Riva di Pellestrina, Venice” is an oil on canvas painted by Angelo Brombo in 1960. The artist depicts an evocative view of the Pellestrina shoreline: small boats are moored along the water’s edge, houses rise directly from the lagoon, and several figures enliven the scene with their everyday activities. The composition captures the distinctive atmosphere of the Venetian lagoon, with careful attention to architectural details and to the simple life of this fishing village.
Angelo Brombo, a Venetian painter active throughout much of the twentieth century, is well known for his lagoon views, urban scenes, and genre compositions. He took part in several local exhibitions and focused his work on documenting the places and daily life that defined Venice and its islands.
The painting is signed lower left, and the reverse of the canvas bears the title, date, and artist’s signature: “Riva di Pellestrina (Venezia)” – Angelo Brombo, 1960, Venezia. The canvas measures 50 × 70 cm and comes with its period frame, for an overall size of 61 × 81.5 cm.
The work is in excellent condition.
