Louis XV Period Flat Desk, Stamped By Pierre Migeon

A very elegant Louis XV period flat desk, crafted from violet wood with fine marquetry in a frieze pattern.

It features three drawers in the frieze (three simulated drawers on the back), including a recessed central drawer.
It rests on four cabriole legs richly adorned with delicately carved and openwork acanthus leaf motifs, which connect the feet with a fine giltwood band.

The gilt bronze mounts are exquisitely chased, with delicately crafted keyhole escutcheons and contours.
The top is covered in gilt leather tooled in small gilts, framed by a gilt bronze molding that accentuates the piece's supple and harmonious lines.
A Parisian work from the mid-18th century, bearing the stamp of master cabinetmaker Pierre Migeon (Migeon II), one of the most renowned craftsmen of the reign of Louis XV, known for his elegant furniture, delicate friezes, and balanced proportions.
