Magnificent wall-mounted console in carved and gilded wood, originating from the BEDEL & Cie Garde-Meuble, a renowned 19th-century Parisian furniture house.
This rare piece features exceptionally fine Neo-Classical ornamentation: egg-and-dart frieze, beading, rosettes, foliage, and above all a remarkable pair of intertwined serpents, meticulously carved — an ancient symbol of wisdom and protection.
The console stands on an elegant support decorated with spiral serpents, topped with a central pine cone — another motif borrowed from antique iconography — and ending in a turned toupie-style foot.
The original gilding shows a beautiful, authentic patina.
A rare piece, inspired by prestigious models of the First Empire, typically destined for high-standard Haussmannian interiors.

Former Parisian Garde-Meuble BEDEL & Cie (original label preserved).
