Naval officer's saber, Prairial Year XII model. First Empire. Bronze hilt. Single-branch guard, quillon ending in the form of a sea monster's head. Crossguard decorated with a naval anchor on a bundle of flags. Short-tailed pommel decorated with laurel branches and studded molding. Ebony grip with diagonal striated grain. Curved, fullered blade, 69 cm long and 3 cm wide at the ricasso, engraved on its first third with trophies. Black patent leather scabbard with three bronze and brass mounts, chape molded in relief with a mermaid, central mount decorated with lines and cut edges, and a smooth chape with a ribbon engraved with laurel leaves.
