André Fau (1896-1982) is part of a form of continuity of the post-war Cubist movement and invented the “rhythmic movement” for which he published a manifesto in 1920. “Rhythmic movement is the very law of life and creation. Modern painting, if it wants to be alive, must be rhythmic: each line, each plane, each color participates like the notes of a musical phrase. Plastic rhythm is the synthesis of sensation and spirit. (Fau, 1920: 5)”.
