Superb Auvergne hurdy-gurdy head, similar on music museum.
The crowned queen, with her good-natured look, must have enjoyed all the popular dances she accompanied, late 19th century…. Pretty harlequin costume.
This sculpted piece, placed -on head- of the instrument, was used to adjust tension of the strings by 6 turned wooden pegs on breastplate.
Beautiful original condition, as found. A very small lack, angle on base.
