Indian Patchwork From A Quilted Quilt - Provence Circa 1860
Circa 1860 Provence A calico patchwork from a Provençal window quilt that has been unstitched and dates from the Second Empire period. Patchwork of 110 printed cotton squares alternating dots, stripes, flowers and calico patterns printed with a roller and a wooden block. Framed in yellow-green cotton still bearing the marks of the stitches forming interlacing. Patchworks of Provençal origin are rare and very often earlier than British and American patchworks. No defects to report. Very good condition of color and preservation. Dimensions: 172 cm x 162 cm.
