Trained by her future husband, Abel de Pujol, Adrienne Grandpierre-Deverzy will be above all his assistant in the workshop known for its numerous students. Accustomed to the troubadour style, she exhibited historical subjects at the Salon in 1822, but also views of workshops. That of Abel de Pujol was notably painted in 1822 and 1836. She produced many portraits for which she acquired a certain notoriety in Paris.

Our portrait made in 1824, at first glance strongly reminds us of the features of Abel de Pujol. The color of the hair quickly refutes this hypothesis... The face marked by high cheekbones, full lips and a plunging nose are nevertheless characteristics of our artist's master.
