Portrait of a man of letters, Jean Scipion Albert (or Allut), wearing a discreetly patterned jacquard-type coat, seated in a Louis XVI armchair upholstered in green damask. He is holding an open Latin book, one expression of which is partially legible ("delectare virtute"). The background features a library with bound books and curtains with twisted tassels. Jabot and cuffs in white lace are carefully depicted. Typical Louis XVI powdered wig. Coat fabric with small dotted patterns, in a salmon pink tone. Louis XVI style furniture: carved wood, rounded back, green trim. Visible signature: "Bailles Piella 1778" - author not identified. Original 18th century frame in gilded wood.
