An important polychrome porcelain figure representing Hotai (Budai), the Buddha of Happiness, surrounded by five children. This popular Chinese scene, emblematic of prosperity, fertility and family joy, is treated with great finesse. Hand-painted decoration in the “famille rose” palette, rich in floral motifs, textiles and expressive details. Oval mark in relief under the base. Very good condition, without cracks or restorations. Dimensions: H. 27 cm. Provenance: China, Republic period (1912–1949)
