Marc FUCHS (1890-1934). Oil on canvas, dated and signed in the lower left corner, mounted in a gilded wooden frame. Note that there are very few works by this artist in circulation. He produced little. Dimensions: Frame: 79.5 x 100 cm. Subject: 80 x 60 cm. From 1913, he was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels where he attended classes by Émile Vandamme-Sylva, the symbolists Jean Delville and Constant Montald, and Gisbert Combaz. Spotted by the Galerie Georges Giroux, he exhibited at the first Salon of Young Belgian Painting in January 1923 alongside Magritte, Delvaux, Pierre-Louis Flouquet, and Marcel-Louis Baugniet. He exhibited with the Brussels Artistic and Literary Circle in 1931. “Driven by the madness of persecution,” he committed suicide in 1934.
