Large Clock Portico Watchmaker : Caillot 1830

Porticoclock, a fabulous contrast between its blackened, French-varnished woodand its gold gilding. Stamped by the clock maker and by a watchmaker,"Caillot," who crafted the mechanism's chassis, the final assembler.The second clockmaker's name has been erased; it is located in thecartouche on the dial; it can be partially read "à Paris" thanksto the difference in gilding.

Sturdy wooden construction covered with a magnificent, very smooth andglossy blackened wood veneer. The whole has benefited from aFrench-varnish finish, providing contrast, shine, and protection, witha "mirror" effect. For example, the reflection of the pendulum can beseen.

Very high-quality and very finely chiseled ornamentation inmercury-gilded bronze.
"Annular" dial composed of a white enamel disc.

Original mechanism without modification, striking the hours andhalf-hours on an antique bell.
