Superb hand-painted porcelain plaque depicting a young shepherd drinking from a fountain, dressed in a rustic costume with a burgundy cape and crossed gaiters. In the background, two cows peacefully quench their thirst in a bucolic landscape of meadow and pond at sunset. The scene is framed by a raised gold border, mounted in a black and gold Empire-style wooden frame. The plaque is signed lower right J. Jullien, a decorator active in the late 19th century, probably linked to the Limoges or Paris factories, famous for their hand-painted porcelain plaques.
