This solid walnut chest features high-relief carvings, including helmet, quiver, arrow, and scroll motifs. The central part of the front panel depicts a battle scene with several figures, surrounded by ornamental motifs. The front corners are decorated with carved espagnolette, also depicting soldiers. The whole rests on wafer feet. The top mounted on two wrought iron hinges is held by a so-called knee compass. The craftsmanship highlights the artistry and thematic elements typical of Italian Renaissance art.
