"Large Kutani Porcelain Dish 1870 Japan"
Imposing and beautiful Kutani porcelain dish of the "Satsuma" type with fine gold enamels, pink pigment and a fairly rare pigment called "green tea", decorated with birds, lotus flowers, insects and other plants. Great finesse of execution. Slightly domed, inscription on the back: "Dai Nihon Kutani O Ni(Chi) AÏ Do Zo" Approximate translation: "Kutani of great Japan Made (in or by the) Indigo Palace on the day of the Emperor". Very good condition, some wear (rubbing) on certain enamels due to age, no cracks or breaks. Japan Meiji era circa 1870
