A magnificent 19th-century Austro-Hungarian office stamp of remarkable craftsmanship.
Description
The handle, finely carved from ribbon agate with natural shades of cream, brown and mocha, has an ergonomic and sculptural shape, crystallized in places for a refined visual effect.
The matrix, in finely chased gold, adopts an almost rectangular shape (15 x 13 mm) and bears a delicately engraved coat of arms depicting a wheel flanked by two swans, surmounted by a noble crown – probably the coat of arms of an aristocratic family.
The base is a true work of art: a floral gold mount adorned with rich relief decorations, studded with cabochons of deep garnets and vibrant turquoise, providing a harmonious contrast with the gilt metal.
The quality of the chiseling work as well as the harmony of the materials reflect the refinement of the Austro-Hungarian decorative arts of the high period.
