Representing the Portrait of a Young Woman by the Sea painted around 1900.
Rare portrait painted by this landscape painter, his biography indicates that he only painted 12, probably painted in La Panne, Belgium, North Sea, where Belgian impressionist painters gathered in search of light.
Richard Heintz, 1871-1929, Belgian painter, watercolorist and engraver of landscapes, portraits and still lifes. From 1886 to 1892, he was a student of Emile Delperée and Adrien de Witte at the Academy of Fine Arts in Liège, his hometown, then of Jean Delvin at the Academy of Ghent. From 1892, he worked on the restoration of old paintings by the Liège collector Adolphe Eymael in his private mansions on Mont Saint-Martin. A scholarship holder from the Lambert-Darchis Foundation, he spent 6 years in Italy (1906-1912) where he executed numerous paintings. He lived a poor and often unstable life there. Upon his return, he settled in Sy where he became primarily a landscape painter; Heintz may be considered the interpreter par excellence of the Ardennes. His landscapes, imbued with an austere and fiery character, are part of an opulent and generous texture. He applies the paint in broad strokes with strong colors where a blue of particular luminous intensity flourishes. He practices a luminist impressionist style that has evolved towards post-impressionism, sometimes flirting with expressionism. He died unexpectedly at the age of 58, on the banks of the Ourthe, at the foot of the Sabot rock, on May 26, 1929, on the right bank below Verlaine-sur-Ourthe, which at that time was part of the commune of Tohogne. A commemorative plaque was placed there. Works in the Museums of Brussels, Ghent and Liège. Artist listed in the Bénézit (with examples of signatures), the Arto and the Piron. Artprice, Artnet, Akoun, etc.
