Beautiful large globe, height 61cm, blackened turned wooden base, brass mount with engraved equatorial table supported by four brass quarter circles, the globe is free in its brass circle, held on poles by reinforced rings, rotating around an engraved meridian. It is a beautiful object, dated 1881, showing the political geography of this pivotal period, anchored in all-out colonialism.
