Large and luminous painting from the 1930s-1940s which represents a young woman posing with her hat, in front of a Mediterranean landscape with azure colors ... The canvas is signed by the painter Georges-André Klein (1901-1992) to whom the Bénézit devotes a chapter and whose interesting biography can be read on the Wikipedia site: first a student at the Académie Julian in 1918, he will then follow the courses at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs ... the quality of his work will be noticed by the famous sculptor Antoine Bourdelle (1861-1929) for whom Georges-André Klein will work from 1923-1929 ... During these years, he will patinate the plasters, also realizing the drawings of models for the sculpture projects of Antoine Bourdelle ... Georges-André Klein exhibited in the main large salons, including the Salon d'Automne, des Indépendants, des Tuileries : the French state bought from him in 1973 a canvas 81 x 65 cm entitled "Woman at her toilet" which is exhibited at the National Center of Plastic Arts. note: one of the attractions of the work proposed here is its beautiful luminosity which recalls a little the atmosphere of certain works of Henri Lebasque or even Charles Camoin...
