Mid-19th Century Oval Pastel Painting With Young Woman

Oval pastel painting on paper, framed by an oval frame in carved and gilded wood in gold pastiglia. The painting is also protected by glass, to preserve it. The paper is instead placed on a canvas support. The portrait depicts a young French woman, with calm and candid features. Her gaze is frontal and serene, while her hair is gathered. The neck and shoulders are uncovered, and an elegant dress with blue and gold decorations can be partially glimpsed. The painting technique is executed with great mastery, highlighting the attention to detail. The painting is signed on the right side with the inscription "A. Lemuire", the name of a French painter active around the mid-19th century.
