This statue represents the goddess of the hunt, called Artemis in Greek mythology, and Diana in Roman mythology, in the guise of a young woman hanging her coat on her shoulder. For the story about: The original statue was discovered in 1792 by Gavin Hamilton on the property of Prince Borghese in Gabii, not far from Rome, the latter sold it to Napoleon I in 1807 and it joined the Louvre Museum in 1820.
