"Galant Festivities, Nicolas Lancret (in The Taste Of)"
Fête Galante, oil on canvas circa 1850 signed lower right P. Faure.17th century aristocrats accompanied by their court feast in the park of a castle. A red tent brings a touch of exoticism and serves as a backdrop, while baskets of fruit and dishes are arranged on the ground.
Painting in the style of the gallant scenes of the French painter Nicolas Lancret (1690-1743). Very good condition, in a beautiful gilded wooden frame of the time.
On the back a label mentions that the painting was in the collections of Baron Sanbucy de Sorgue, certainly in his castle of Sambucy in Millau in Aveyron.
